John Cabot Academy celebrates Eid al-Adha
John Cabot Academy recently had the pleasure of hosting members of its Muslim community to celebrate the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
Guests brought with them an array of delicious sweet and savoury foods, offering everyone a chance to experience traditional Eid delicacies. The highlight of the feast included two lovely cakes that were enjoyed by students and staff alike.
Eid al-Adha, commonly known as the Feast of Sacrifice and also referred to as Yawm an-Nahr, is one of the two principal Islamic holidays, alongside Eid al-Fitr. This holiday commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. It is a time of reflection, community, and giving.
Tracey Lansdale, the academy’s Reprographics Technician and social media coordinator, said: “We extend our heartfelt thanks to the members of our Muslim community for sharing their culture and traditions with us, making this celebration a memorable and enriching experience for everyone at John Cabot Academy.”
