Chess champions crowned at John Cabot Academy

Last week saw the final matches in the hotly contested John Cabot Academy Chess Tournament, and we are excited to reveal our 2024 Chess Champions!

Year 7 Champion: Congratulations to Joshua, who played a confident and speedy match, finding a clever route through his opponent Travvon’s formidable defenses to achieve a decisive checkmate.

Year 9 Champion: Congratulations to Kevin, who played a thoughtful and cautious game, winning on points total as he slowly but surely cleared the board of opponent Dylan’s pieces.

Year 10 Champion: Congratulations to Jason, whose initially cautious game against opponent Piers descended into a thrilling match. Both players steadily cleared the board, with Jason securing his checkmate only seconds before the final bell.
