Music Tuition

We currently offer ‘in house’ music tuition in Voice, Piano, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drumkit and Flute. This academic year, we can offer additional weeks of music tuition for those who are learning Voice, Piano, Keyboard or Flute, as our teacher is based within the Academy. This is reflected in the termly cost for these instruments. Our music tuition packages are outlined in more detail below. We can facilitate tuition in Clarinet, Oboe, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Viola, and Cello. However, these teachers are visiting staff and therefore have a different pricing plan as they are outsourced. Please contact us for details.

Music tuition is paid termly via our online payment system ScoPay, which can be accessed via the John Cabot Academy website. All music tuition is subsidised by John Cabot Academy to provide students with the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. If your child is eligible for free school meals, we will be able to use some of their Pupil Premium or Post 16 bursary to help fund their music tuition. However, we do ask for a small contribution from families. We feel that it is important that more students will be able to access music tuition as a means of enjoyment and personal development. The tuition option costs are outlined below, with parental contribution outlined per lesson for those in receipt of Pupil Premium.

Payment for lessons needs to be with us by the end of the first week of every new term. If a payment is not made, your child will not be able to continue with music tuition. In addition, if your child no longer wants to receive music tuition, please give a term’s notice. We ask you to encourage your child to persevere with their instrument and to develop resilience with all the exciting challenges and possibilities that come with learning a musical instrument. To support students with their musical learning, the music tuition teacher will provide a detailed report at the end of Terms 1, 3 and 5. Students will also receive a practice booklet that they can use to make notes and record their weekly progress.

Please complete the form, indicating your preference(s) and return to the Music Department or contact JCAinfo@clf.uk FAO; Charlotte Grierson and Richard Shepherd if you have any queries or would like to register your interest.
